It is our goal at Bethany Academy to keep Christian education a viable option for everyone God is calling to come through Bethany Academy’s doors. Your participation and/or contribution through any of our programs allows Bethany Academy to continue to make disciples for Jesus Christ. There are many ways to help to meet this goal.
All donations made to Bethany Academy are tax deductable. The IRS allows for a canceled check to serve as a receipt for all donations under $250. Donations above $250 will receive a receipt at year end.
If you would like to make a donation to Bethany Academy through any of our programs, please use the link below, contact Nancy Johnson, Head of school, or send your donation to Bethany Academy, attention Nancy Johnson.

The Mission of the Development Department
Bethany Academy strives to provide excellent Christian education and keep tuition accessible to as many families as possible. We seek to bridge the gap between tuition and Bethany Academy’s annual expenses by securing donations and sponsoring fundraisers since tuition alone does not cover the actual cost of a Bethany Academy education.
We sponsor three main fundraising programs throughout the year. We ask each family to set a fundraising goal of $850 annually, and offer these fundraisers to help families meet the goal:
1. Bethany Loves Bloomington (fall) - a meal packing event to serve the local community. In our inaugural year (2015), the students packed thousands of meals and distributed them to Bloomington (and the surrounding community) food shelves. Students and families get pledges from supporters who sponsor them for meals they pack. More information at http://www.bethanyacademy.org/bethanylovesminnesota.cfm
2. Spring Auction (March) - a fun and fabulous evening for supporters of Bethany Academy! We host an off-site dinner complete with silent and live auction items, entertainment, and the opportunity to donate to one of the best causes around - our school! We welcome donations of restaurants gift certificates, vacation venues, merchandise, and many other items.
3. The Annual Appeal Campaign (May)
Beyond the fundraisers, we seek regular donors to support the ongoing work at Bethany Academy.
- Become a monthly supporter of Bethany Academy. We received $28K from monthly donors in 2015-2016, and would like this to grow to $80-100K annually.
- Find out if your employer offers a matching gift program and direct the match to Bethany Academy.

Generosity is about the heart, not about the numbers. Proverbs 11:25 says: “A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.” Please prayerfully consider making a generous donation to Bethany Academy! On behalf of the teachers and staff, thank you for all the ways to contribute to Bethany Academy throughout the year. We are truly grateful for your continued support!
Bethany Academy is an exempt organization under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Donors may deduct contributions to Bethany Academy as provided in section 170 of the Code.
A Gift Through Your Corporation
If you are a business owner, your business can make the donation and receive the tax deduction. A business you work for may either make a donation directly or match a donation you make. In some cases, corporate tax rates will be higher than individual tax rates; therefore, having the business make the contribution will give you bigger tax savings.
A Gift of Appreciated Property
By appreciated property, we are talking about assets that have gone up in value, and when sold, you would have to pay tax on the gain. The most common types of appreciated property are stocks, bonds, and mutual funds; however, appreciated property can also include real estate, art, jewelry, antiques, and collectibles. By making a gift of appreciated property, you receive an income tax deduction for the market value of the appreciated property and avoid paying income tax on the gain. As an example, you bought a stock 5 years ago for $5,000.00. Today the stock is worth $10,000.00. If you sold the stock you would pay capital gains tax on the $5,000.00 gain. By gifting the stock to Bethany Academy, you would receive a tax deduction of $10,000.00 and avoid paying capital gains tax on the gain.
Additional Gifting Opportunities
There are ways to give by bequests made in a will, gifting a life insurance policy, or establishing a trust where Bethany Academy receives the money, and you receive an income. Everyone’s situation will be different so please consult with your financial or tax advisor to determine the best way to give based on your circumstances.

We all have a cause we care about, but what we don't all have is the time or money to support these efforts as much as we'd like. So, what if we could raise money for Bethany Academy by doing something we do every day - search the Internet?
GoodSearch is a search engine which donates 50% of its revenue to the charities and schools designated by its users. It's a simple and compelling concept. You use GoodSearch exactly as you would any other search engine. Because it's powered by Yahoo, you get proven search results. The money GoodSearch donates to your school comes from its advertisers; the users and the organizations do not spend a dime.
All you have to do is go to GoodSearch.com and enter "Bethany Academy" as your designated charity (you'll find the box just below the search box). Save Good Search in your favorites or as your homepage and use instead of Google or Yahoo or whatever search engine you currently use. Once you've selected Bethany Academy as your charity of choice it will be selected the next time you use GoodSearch.
The Amazon.com affiliates program is a great opportunity to shop at a well known online retailer while donating a portion of the proceeds to Bethany Academy. When you follow the link to Amazon from Bethany Academy's website , eligible purchases that you make will result in a percentage of the sale being donated to Bethany Academy. Click here to begin shopping.

Mahalo to Our Corporate Sponsors
Bethany Academy is a K-12 independent school in Bloomington, Minnesota. For over 40 years, students have been immersed in an academically rich, caring environment with class sizes averaging 15 students per class. We are accredited through the Association of Christian Schools International and meet or exceed Minnesota educational standards, and our students represent over 55 different Christian churches and live throughout the Twin Cities.
As a private independent school, Bethany Academy is funded by tuition and does not receive revenue from taxpayer dollars or a church. We strive to keep tuition as low as possible to make our education accessible to as many families as possible. Like most private schools, tuition does not cover the cost of an actual year of education, and we rely on generous donors and fundraising activities to help fill the gap. Our largest annual fundraiser is our spring auction where our families come together to bid on a variety of items. This fundraising event will take place on the evening of Saturday, March 11, 2017. Our goal is to raise $40,000 to support the academic programs at Bethany Academy. We invite your company to donate a gift certificate or merchandise for this event. We believe your donation will be great publicity for your company and it will benefit our school very much. We greatly appreciate your support and will acknowledge your business and any additional sponsorship in our auction book which each attendee will receive. All donations and sponsorship must be finalized by Friday, February 17, 2017, to secure a space in the program book.
Bethany Academy incorporates service opportunities for our students throughout the school year and encourages them to give back to their community. Your contributions model this value to the next generation. Thank you for your consideration.
